Marilyn Fettner, M.A., M.C.D.P. (Master Career Development Professional), is founder of Fettner Career Consulting (FCC), a division of Fettner Consulting Group, Inc. Marilyn knows what it takes to break into new professions and industries, move up in organizations, start businesses, and redirect careers to fit varied life stages, personality styles and lifestyles.


One of her greatest passions is helping people find satisfying “Best-Fit” careers. A skilled career, management, and life coach, Marilyn puts her 18+ years of experience to work for her clients, whose backgrounds span a variety of professions, industries and ages. Specializations include career change (at any age), working with high school and college students to identify a Best-Fit school and major, and working with retirees who’re wondering “what’s next?”


A frequent speaker at professional conferences, Marilyn has been a guest career consultant on NBC’s Starting Over and is listed in Who’s Who in American Women. She’s quoted in the Chicago Tribune’s 2007 Employment Outlook, and her articles have been published in newspapers, professional journals and national magazines. She has designed and facilitated hundreds of seminars on a variety of topics in career development, management, and leadership development, and is also a public speaking coach.


Prior to forming FCC, Marilyn was Director of Training and Development for McCormick Place/Navy Pier, Sales Manager for Coldwell Banker, and Director of Professional Development for North Shore Board of Realtors (now North Shore Barrington Association of Realtors). She has also worked as a Certified Associate for Lee Hecht Harrison, a global career management and leadership development firm. In addition, Marilyn has experience as a recruiter, corporate training consultant, freelance writer and teacher.


Marilyn’s educational background includes a M.A. in Human Resources Development, B.A. in Education and she is currently working on a M.A. in Human Services Counseling to obtain an Illinois counseling license. Marilyn holds the following professional designations: Master Career Development Professional, National Career Development Association; Advanced Facilitation Certificate for Training and Development, University of Chicago Graduate School, and Qualified Practitioner, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (a personality preference assessment), Center for Applications of Psychological Type. Additional assessment experience includes Strong Interest Inventory, DiSC personality assessments and others.
