WHPacific, Inc., d/b/a NV5 (NV5), has a need for a Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) or Jr. Professional Surveyor to join its team in Meridian, ID. Come be a part of a growing, Pacific Northwest NV5 team with the opportunity to be located in the popular Treasure Valley of SW Idaho.


This position includes assisting Professional Land Surveyors with a variety of Survey types in locations throughout Idaho and the Pacific Northwest. Tasks and duties will include office production, survey crew oversight, occasional field surveying and related management and project management duties. This position supervises and/or leads field and office survey staff, performs field quality control, performs office reductions & survey computations; prepares TINs and surfaces, and final mapping in an Civil3D and/or MicroStation environment. Conducts survey research, performs computations, CADD drafting of topographic maps and plats, develops written descriptions of land for deeds, leases, and other legal documents in accordance with local, state, federal and project requirements. Assists the Director of Survey with Business Development activities and the preparation of fee estimates and proposals for capturing new projects.

Responsibilities
    Supervise project survey crew(s) in urban and remote areas of the Northwest, including scheduling, management, and coordination of the daily and on-going operations of the field survey crew.
  • Project types include Control, Boundary, Subdivisions, ALTA, Topographic & Pre-Design surveys, 3D Scanning and Modeling, Aerial Mapping Control and UAVs surveys, Construction Staking (site development and highway); may also perform Bathymetric Surveying.
  • Understand and identify basic sources of measurement errors.
  • Perform mathematical calculations and check field data.
  • Perform data reduction, field note reduction, calculations, data checks and staking computations using survey programs and Civil 3D (MicroStation a plus).
  • Using Civil3D, perform map drafting and production of survey deliverables.
  • Perform quality control checks, including computations and final project deliverables.
  • Perform project research, logistics and management, review plats and prepare legal descriptions.
  • Adhere to the company's policies, safety plan and the project safety plan.
  • Mentor survey team, including professional & technical oversight and guidance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Qualifications:

  • Fundamentals in Land Surveying certification preferred.
  • Idaho Professional Land Surveyor registration a plus.
  • Bachelor's Degree (4yr) in a Geomatics (surveying) based program a plus.
  • Min of four (4) years surveying and mapping experience required.
  • Proficient use of robotic total stations, GPS receivers and data collectors and GPS reduction software such as Trimble Business Center.
  • Experience with Trimble survey equipment a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand survey drawings, plans & specifications.
  • Knowledge of principles of monumentation, staking and marking.
  • Must be proficient with MS Word and Excel.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills, and effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be productive and positive working in both the field and office environments.
  • Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential requirements.
  • Must be able and willing to travel.
  • Valid Driver's License required; must meet company insurability requirements.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Fundamentals in Land Surveying certification preferred.
  • Idaho Professional Land Surveyor registration a plus.
