Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Hydrogeologist/ Groundwater Engineer we'll count on you to:

  • Follow prescribed procedures and detailed instructions, conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations and assist in the preparation of technical documents.
  • Perform routine scientist assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures on projects that have clear, specified objectives and limited variables.
  • Work independently on small projects or assist more-senior scientists/engineers on larger projects.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following: Geology with an emphasis in Hydrogeology; Geological or Civil Engineering with a background in hydrogeology/hydrology; Engineering Geology; Hydrogeology; or closely related field.
  • Capable of adequately completing the following types of tasks:
    • Preparation of well completion reports
    • Groundwater impact studies and hydrogeologic assessments
    • Water supply well design and construction oversight
    • Classify soil and rock samples to determine geologic type
    • Performing well test pumping and associated aquifer capacity analyses
    • Surface water and groundwater sampling
    • Subcontractor oversight
    • Order supplies/equipment for completion of field tasks
  • Experience working in the field independently and with a team
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs
  • Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following health and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced dynamic environment handling multiple project assignments and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures).
  • Ability to organize and evaluate data including the preparation of reports, tables, graphs, charts, and figures.
  • Requires ability to travel.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in in Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, Geological Engineering or closely related field; a Masters degree is a plus
  • P.G. or P.E. or able to secure professional license within 2-4 years
  • Prior experience with field work associated with well drilling, construction, and testing
  • Prior experience with groundwater studies and well design
  • Familiarity with water chemistry and water quality
  • Course work in aquifer hydraulics and hydrology
  • Familiarity with groundwater modeling, including MODFLOW
  • Experience preparing technical reports, well diagrams, and boring logs
  • Experience with AQTESOLV or similar aquifer testing analysis software
  • Basic knowledge of Idaho well construction regulations a plus
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training a plus
  • Local candidates preferred
