The Lewiston mill is the largest of Clearwater Paper's facilities, producing both paperboard and tissue product, and boasting over 1200 talented employees. Approximately two hours away from Clearwater Paper's headquarters in Spokane, Washington, the Lewiston paper mill is a key component in Clearwater Paper's business strategy. What you will do:

Condition Monitoring

  • Conduct routine field vibration data collection, reporting, and follow-up action recommendations on equipment according to an established schedule.
  • Conduct baseline vibration readings on all new and rebuilt rotating equipment before it is commissioned to verify acceptance and suitability and establish baseline data.
  • Conduct non-destructive testing techniques on equipment and vessels as required.
  • Utilize infrared thermography techniques on electrical distribution equipment.
  • Conduct field balance work on rotating equipment as required to meet specifications.
  • Create database equipment history files and establish baseline data on pertinent equipment based on criticality. Build on these equipment histories as field data is collected to increase understanding of machine conditions and life cycles.
  • Identify value added work and initiate work requests.

Quality Assurance

  • Responsible for Code Welding "R" Stamp Program. This includes training and certification of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) code welders, performance of Non Destructive Examination (NDE) on code weld repairs on plant boiler and pressure vessels and compilation of required documentation of repairs.
  • Perform welding inspections and Non Destructive Examination (NDE) (i.e. Ultrasonic thickness, Liquid Penetrate and Magnetic Particle testing) for contractors on site, as requested.
  • Represent Clearwater's interests on contractor welding and Non Destructive Examination (NDE) issues.
  • Perform Contractor Management duties as required (annual Batch Digester Inspections/Repairs, Power and Recovery Boiler Inspections/Repairs).

Safety

  • Support mill safety improvement and accident reduction efforts. Follow all environmental, health and safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures including reporting and documentation requirements.
  • Promote and demonstrate good housekeeping practices.

What you will need:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Legally permitted to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend basic English
  • Demonstrated experience working with complex mechanical systems
  • Understanding of vibration and lubrication
  • Good interpersonal and problem solving
  • Be a reliable and productive team member
  • Great communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with computer programs and ability to learn to use new programs
  • Demonstrated vibrational analysis experience
  • Experience in an industrial environment, preferably in a paper mill, lumber mill, or similar industry
  • Level 1 Vibration Analysis Certification
  • Industrial environment subject to extreme heat and cold.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in the mill environment.
  • Noisy, dusty and working around moving equipment.
  • Climbing stairs and ladders, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
  • Occasionally lifting 20 pounds.
