Job Summary

The Deposit Operations Business Analyst is responsible for providing high quality support to the Deposit Operations Business Analyst Team, Payment Operations, Deposit Operations, Branches, The Client Care Center and other internal departments to best support the bank's business goals and service level expectation. This support includes testing new services or procedures, system enhancements and upgrades and assisting with system issues by researching and testing potential solutions.

The person in this position will also serve as the interface between business stakeholders and the technical teams to define the technology requirements and ensure business needs are met with minimal impact on the business stakeholders.

The responsibilities of this position include understanding the requirements for a specific set of software products offered by the company as they relate to Business and Consumer Deposit accounts and ensure the systems supporting those products work as expected. Additionally, this position would provide input on the product specification for any new products, including compliance, risk, financial, and data/information needs. Along with the key functions listed below, this position will uphold the value that Washington Federal places on simply being kind when servicing our colleagues and clients.

This position's primary responsibilities are to:

    Work with Deposit Operations and Payment Operations to understand business processes, risk, product, financial and regulatory needs for the departments.
  • Ensure product/business solutions achieve the expected results.
  • Test systems upgrades and enhancements, test new products and services
  • Assist with issue resolutions, including research and testing
  • Force Closure of deposit accounts, charge-off of negative deposit accounts, reporting charge off losses and payments to Consumer Reporting Agencies.
  • Check Ordering
  • Monitoring deposit notices and statement processing
  • Cleanup projects as assigned.
  • Be a backup support on daily tasks for other business lines.

Other responsibilities include the following:

  • Ensure that the business needs and objectives are clearly communicated and understood and ensure solutions provided meet the specific requirements related to regulatory and procedural changes.
  • Coordinate with the business units and compliance departments to define and translate into clear requirements all new regulatory, legal and compliance related changes.
  • Efficiently document integrated, cross-departmental requirements for products, compliance, information, and functionality needs.
  • Ensure business and technical requirements to support Deposit and Payment Operations governance and compliance are met.
  • Identify gaps in the design and operating effectiveness of controls and create solutions for more efficient and effective controls for the product and as it relates to compliance and AML/CFT needs.
  • Maintain sufficient knowledge of Bank systems and processes to manage technical and usage needs, effective completion of projects and to provide support during department audits.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of financial processing systems, groupware, collaboration tools and technological advancements relevant to the financial services industry.
  • Acquire a strong understanding of systems used within Deposit and Payment Operations and develop the ability to use that knowledge to provide input on complete system maintenance.
  • Develop and expand reporting functionality for Deposit and Payment Operations.
  • Support as back up on daily tasks for deposit business lines.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Position requires a high school diploma, or approved equivalent.
  • Preferred 2-3 years of experience in banking or the financial services industry.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated understanding of custom software development, desktop, and familiarity with the technologies necessary to maintain a banking operation.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and laws and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated skills in problem-solving, organizing and disseminating complex and confidential information.
  • Ability to work well cross-functionally with other departments and varying levels of management.
  • General knowledge of bank systems, including operating and network systems, with a strong desire to learn more about these systems and other technologies.
  • Ability to learn and define detailed requirements for appropriate audit, compliance, and regulatory related recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, and advanced customer relations skills.
  • Ability to quickly determine functional needs from non-technical conversations with users and use analytical skills and tools (e.g., Excel, SQL) to make sound business recommendations.
  • Analytical skills to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and decompose high-level information to details.
  • Listening skills, understand what people say, probe when appropriate and help them articulate their true needs.
  • Must be team oriented, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
