The Naval Nuclear Laboratory, Naval reactors Facility is seeking an ESH Compliance Engineer (Safety Professional) to support the Spent Fuel Handling Project (SFHP) construction of a new facility. This individual will work with the Quality and Safety Oversight team following a 4x10 telework hybrid schedule and use their expertise in applying safety and health requirements through surveillance of work and audits of compliance posture and efforts.
The Safety Professional is responsible for ensuring that work is conducted safely and in accordance with applicable requirements. This individual should have a solid understanding of relevant safety and health requirements associated with OSHA General Industry (29 CFR 1910) and OSHA Construction Industry (29 CFR 1926) requirements and standards. This position requires consistent interaction with Naval Nuclear Laboratory management and peers as well as the project Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management contractor and construction subcontractors in order to clarify existing policies, procedures, requirements, and program standards. The ability to work independently with limited supervision is a must.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a technical, engineering or science related field and 9 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a technical, engineering or science related field and 7 years of relevant experience; or Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part II qualified; or qualified SIT and 3 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or Currently or previously CRE qualified; or 6 years as SRE; or SRE qualified and 9 years of experience.

Preferred Skills

ASP, CSP or equivalent certification
Solid understanding of safety awareness and improvement strategies
Ability to understand trend in data relating to injury/illness; must be able to communicate and assist with development of corrective actions

Pay Range
$101,600 - $158,800 annually
