Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Skilled in welding and fabrication (Stick, MIG, TIG) and cutting torches (oxy-acetylene and plasma).
  • Ability to perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, welding, fabrication, troubleshooting, and repair of plant equipment.
  • Diagnoses equipment failures and makes necessary repairs while minimizing production down time.
  • Utilize time effectively to complete work orders, perform preventative maintenance tasks, and install new equipment.
  • Mentor and train Maintenance personnel in areas of expertise.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, disassemble, and repair pumps, gear boxes, and motors as required.
  • Understand proper pipe machining, basic pipe fitting, and plumbing techniques.
  • Troubleshoot steam systems (traps, valves, pumps, isolation), burners and natural gas systems, and equipment operation and sequencing.
  • Complies with safety and food safety rules and regulations.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.

Qualifications/Required Skills

Education and/or Experience:

  • This position requires two years of trade school and/or five years' experience in maintenance.
  • Complete and maintain Idahoan Foods forklift, CPR, and First Aid certifications.

Math Skills:

  • This position requires quantitative skills and knowledge of math functions such as percentages, decimals, and the ability to chart numerical data appropriately.

Language Skills:

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, telephone skills, and thorough knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Reasoning Ability:

  • This position requires a high degree of self-confidence and maturity to make decisions required in day-to-day activities. Must be able to solve problems with minimal direction, be detailed oriented and have strong organizational skills. A team player who is flexible and accepts changing assignments and accountabilities. Should display excellent interpersonal skills.

Computer Skills:

  • Essential computer skills using Windows applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and E-mail.
  • Also utilize the computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) to generate work orders for issues found on the work floor or get assigned work from Supervisor.

Work Environment:

  • This position requires the ability to perform various physical activities such as heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) standing on concrete floors for extended periods of time, moving parts and loud noise. Must be able to work with sanitizers and cleaning chemicals. Must be able to work various shifts as assigned by Supervisor. Cleans job site and tools. Stores tools and equipment in designated places in an orderly manner. Works on ladders, scaffolds, and forklift cages and in pits using proper safety precautions. Wears personal protective equipment as needed for assigned tasks. Must be able to work various shifts as assigned by Supervisor.
