Idaho National Laboratory Engineering Process Design & Realization Department is seeking a candidate to enhance its systems design and integration capabilities to support INL's programs, including but not limited to Bioenergy and Advanced Materials & Manufacturing.

Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. You will report to the EES&T Department Manager.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Develop and apply sound engineering principles to create specific system models and designs.
  • Lead electro-mechanical activities associated with setting up of new, reconfiguring of existing, and maintaining/operating large-scale material handling equipment.
  • Understand programmatic goals and objects with equipment and facility upgrades and address equipment modifications and upgrades to meet project and customer needs.
  • Independently obtain and collect data from research experiments and hardware assemblies and components.
  • Perform technical evaluation of data related to the operation and testing of electro-mechanical systems.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
  • PR0200 - A Bachelor's degree of science and 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree of science and 1 year of relevant experience, in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, Civil, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent disciplines.
  • PR0300 - A Bachelor's degree of science and 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree of science and 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD of science and 2 years of relevant experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, Civil, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent disciplines.
  • Minimum 2 years of advanced user or professional experience with SolidWorks. Professional experience of engineered systems to preprocess, condition, and characterize renewable and recyclable materials such as biomass, municipal solid waste, construction debris, electronic waste, and spent vehicle batteries.
  • Professional experience of unmanned vehicle research, sensor development, automation, and robotics design.
  • Familiarity with techniques such as milling, grinding, and sieving are needed as well as knowledge in physical characterization using a variety of common instrumental techniques.
  • Experience developing materials processing and manufacturing technologies that deliver feedstocks with the chemical and physical specifications required by downstream conversion.
  • Couple scientific approaches with tools to understand the mechanisms of material preprocessing and deconstruction.
