Description

This position is responsible for overseeing an assigned Parts department in the branch. This role will direct, educate and oversee the growth and development of the Parts employees within the branch in alignment with strategic objectives. This person will also be responsible for the execution of tactics and initiatives to support Parts sales growth within the assigned branch resulting in the year over year growth in Parts revenues. Directs a wide variety of complex sales and marketing functions requiring a strong general knowledge of the markets that the Branch covers. Coordinates and collaborates with other departments at the branch location and interfaces with customers, vendors, and Caterpillar Representatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervises Parts employees. Performs annual performance review and determines compensation increases. Administers discipline; authority to hire and terminate employees.
  • Manages direct expenses related to the Parts business at assigned branch.
  • Oversees assigned Parts branch. Effectively communicates Parts goals, provides resources and direction, and ensures goals are met. Leads branch to meet or exceed all budgeted goals and assigned Caterpillar objectives in alignment with our corporate strategy.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs, staffs and manages Parts operations in assigned branch.
  • Analyzes and monitors financial statements and initiates changes as necessary.
  • Maintains Western's professional position in market. Works closely with Western States' customers by regularly making sales calls to ensure profitable growth.
  • Manages consistent processes to ensure a consistent customer experience with other branches.
  • Manages branch Parts operations to meet or exceed all Parts key performance indicators and company goals.
  • Develops training plans for Parts branch employees.
  • Ensures Parts Supervisors work effectively with employees and are capable of creating a highly engaged workforce. Coaches Parts Supervisors on employee issues as needed. Treats all employees fairly and consistently.
  • Evaluates Western's position as it compares to competitors. Works to keep competition from taking customers. Anticipates customer needs and offers services as needed to keep customers from going to the competition.
  • Promotes and manages all customer care standards.
  • Actively cares and advocates safety at Western States. Promotes and manages safety at Western States. Ensures employees, vendors, and customers have a safe work environment. Adheres to and manages all applicable safety policies, procedures and standards.
  • May accomplish training and serve as a team member in support of Western States' strategic programs, projects, and initiatives.
  • Works within and promotes corporate vision, mission, and values of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to occasionally travel overnight.
  • Proven skills in written and verbal communications, planning, organizing, leadership and interpersonal relationship building.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft computer products or other comparable systems required.
  • Ability to learn and be proficient in dealer specific business systems and various other caterpillar software applications.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Consistent attendance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required, Associate Degree in applicable discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years applicable heavy equipment experience in a parts capacity required. Caterpillar experience preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience required.
  • Proof of driver's license and acceptable driving record required
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English).

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time along with walking, standing, climbing stairs, reaching pushing, pulling, leaning and twisting.
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies.
