Drafter

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Drafter to work in our Experiment Design department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Research Education Campus with (every other Friday off.

You will report to the manager of the Experiment Design Department.

Responsibilities Include:

As a member of an integrated engineering project team, drafters applies mastery level knowledge of mechanical engineering design and drafting skills and techniques to help develop engineered design drawings, and supporting documentation for structures, systems, and components. Important functions of the role are:

  • Work with engineers, technicians, operations personnel, project managers, and other drafters to complete design drawings to customer's requirements.
  • Plan a design execution strategy which may include cost estimates of effort and schedule input to meet project milestones.
  • Work in complex multi-discipline teams to perform definitive design and drafting.
  • Provide field support during fabrication, construction, and start-up.
  • Coordinate checking and drafting activities with drafting personnel, drafting leads, engineers, and management.
  • Guide and mentors work of more junior staff.
  • Plan, lay out, prepare, and revise engineering drawings manually or by using computer-aided design equipment in one or more areas of specialization, e.g., architectural, structural, civil, mechanical or electrical drafting working from notes, sketches or general instruction.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • TS0300: High School and 6 or more years relevant experience.

Preferred:

  • Associates Degree in Design Drafting with 4 or more relevant years of experience
  • Knowledge of and experience in the use of nationally recognized standards (e.g. ANSI, ASME, MIL-STD, etc.)
  • Must be proficient in the current versions of PTC Creo and AutoCAD graphics software.
  • Must have knowledge of Windchill file management software.
  • Knowledgeable in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Must be familiar with welding requirements and material properties, and should be knowledgeable about fabrication methods, material properties, mathematics, mechanics, statics, and machine design.

  • Salary Grade: TS0300 170 -($57,108 - $91,440)
