Overview
The Sorenson Legacy Foundation Center for Clinical Excellence (SCCE) is hiring a part-time Mental Health Clinician for the Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling (CRC) service line. The hired individual will be responsible for providing individual (and potentially group) therapy.

The Mental Health Clinician for the CRC service line provides individual and group mental health counseling services for persons with Chronic Illness, Disability, Developmental Disability, and Psychiatric Disability. The CRC service line assists persons with physical, mental, developmental, cognitive, and emotional disabilities to achieve their personal, career, and independent living goals in the most integrated setting possible through the application of the counseling process.

A fully licensed clinician is preferred. However, temporarily licensed individuals needing supervision and working towards full licensure will be considered eligible for the position. For applicants licensed at the Associate level, supervision will be provided by the CRC and pursuit of full licensure will be supported as part of this position.



Responsibilities
The Mental Health Clinician reports to the CRC service line Director. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities or duties.



Job Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group mental health counseling services for persons experiencing psychological distress. Maintain confidential records related to client treatment through the utilization of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Help and support clients as they navigate stressors. Develop relationships with clients that encourage clients to express their feelings and to discuss what is happening in their lives and helps them develop insight into themselves and their relationships.
  • Collects information about clients through interviews, observations, and tests. Prepares and maintains treatment plans.
  • Evaluates clients physical or mental condition based on review of client information. Develops and implements treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge. Acts as a client advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations, such as suicidal ideation or self-harm.
  • Engage in timely completion of clinical documentation and other support activities (e.g., care coordination). It is generally expected that the clinician will spend 60-70% of their time in direct client work and 30-40% in support activities.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Masters degree in a relevant field(e.g. Rehabilitation Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, Social Work) and eligibility for full licensure in Utah within 2 years of hire.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Current licensure as a mental health clinician that allows for independent practice in Utah (i.e., Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC); Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT))

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities in providing clinical mental health counseling services for persons with Chronic Illness, Disability, and Developmental Disabilities.
  • Knowledge of mental health diagnosis, case conceptualization, and treatment planning for psychiatric disabilities.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities in developing and prioritizing a therapeutic relationship with clients.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Knowledge and awareness of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5th Edition (DSM 5).
  • Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures and their history and origins.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
